I saw a ghost

I grew up on Nirvana. Kurt C. was a person that I admired and adored simultaneously. I had the pleasure of seeing Nirvana on more than one occasion before Kurt met his demise (which, btw seriously shook my world). Anyway, I stumbled upon this set of photos today, shot by Hedi Slimane. They are of Francis Bean, who is now a grown woman. When I first perused the set, I literally got cold chills. This woman, who I for some reason still think of as a baby swaddled up in Kurt’s arms during an MTV interview, bears a striking resemblance to her father. For a split second, I seriously felt like I was looking at Kurt reincarnated as a woman. Kudos to Slimane and Francis. I was very moved by this set. Have a look for yourself.

  1. Ok, what do you think: did he really kill himself?

Now I’m really interested in her tattoos. Maybe I’ll have to go find out some of the meanings.

  2. The pictures are beautiful, I kind of followed the whole thing when she was trying to get emancipated from her Mom. She really does look like Kurt. I wasn’t lucky enough to see Nirvana in concert, but I remember very well when he died. My parents finally took down my Kurt poster in my old room last year, wtf! I guess the guests didn’t have the same love for Nirvana that I did.

  3. Thanks for posting these. Being from Seattle, I loved Nirvana as a kid and got to see their last US show. It was amazing.

Funnily enough, I recently took my 15 month old daughter to see Caspar Babypants (Pip would love him, look him up!) and he did a cover of Nirvana’s Sliver. It brought back memories for sure!

Glad you’re up and running again. (Both blogwise and racewise).
